The challenge
Bloom's retention curve looked like every other wellness app: a motivated first week, then guilt-driven streak mechanics that pushed people away the moment they missed a day.
What I did
We replaced streaks with a five-minute daily check-in that always ends in a small win, and rewrote every notification from a nag into an invitation.
The outcome
Thirty-day retention more than doubled, and the App Store reviews stopped mentioning the word "guilt".
